El término “Mapuche” significa: “Mapu”: tierra y “che”: gente; esto es “gente de la tierra” como ratificación de su cultura arraigada a la tierra y a la naturaleza.

The term cau – cau , which comes from the mapuche language and means “big seagull” was chosen as a way of paying tribute to the peoples from the south whose culture will go on surprising you beacuse of their links with nature, their wisdom to survive in hostile climates and their respect for their own culture. In the term “mapuche”, “mapu” means land and “che” means people. The complete word means “land people”. The meaning of the term ratifies their culture as one rooted in the land and nature.
